Privacy Notice
Effective: May 14, 2026
Important: Submitting information through this website — including by clicking the email link, calling the phone number listed, or sending a message via any future contact form — does not create an attorney-client relationship, a mediator-party relationship, or any duty of confidentiality. Confidentiality with respect to mediation services attaches only upon execution of a written engagement agreement and as provided by Ala. Code § 6-6-20 et seq.
This Privacy Notice describes how Eastern Shore Mediation (“we,” “our”) handles information you provide when you visit easternshoremediation.com or otherwise contact the practice. We collect very little information and use it only for the purposes described below.
Information we collect
The site itself is a static informational page. We do not run analytics, advertising trackers, or social-media pixels. What is collected:
- Server access logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records standard request data — IP address, browser user-agent, timestamp, requested URL, and HTTP referrer — for the operational purposes of serving the site, protecting against abuse, and diagnosing problems. These logs are retained by Cloudflare per its standard log-retention policy and are not used by us for any marketing or profiling.
- Email or phone correspondence you initiate. If you email jim@easternshoremediation.com or call (205) 531-1116, the information you provide (your name, contact details, and the substance of your inquiry) is received and reviewed by James W. Fuhrmeister. We retain this correspondence as needed to evaluate whether to take on the matter and, if we do, to administer the engagement.
- Contact form data (if and when added). The site does not currently host a contact form. If we later add one, the form will collect your name, email address, and the message you send. The data will be used only to respond to your inquiry and will be retained for the same period as other email correspondence.
Cookies and tracking
We do not set tracking cookies. The site does not load fonts from Google Fonts, social-media widgets, or third-party analytics services that would set browser cookies. Cloudflare may set first-party cookies for security and bot-mitigation purposes (such as the __cf_bm cookie); these are session-bound, do not identify you across other sites, and serve no marketing function.
How we use information
We use the limited information we receive solely to:
- Respond to your inquiry;
- Evaluate potential conflicts of interest before accepting a mediation engagement;
- Administer engagements once accepted, including invoicing and scheduling;
- Maintain the security and operational integrity of the website.
We do not sell, rent, license, or trade your personal information. We do not use it for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Disclosures to third parties
We share information with third parties only as follows:
- Service providers we use to operate the practice, including Cloudflare (hosting, DNS, security), Google Workspace (email), Stripe (payment processing for invoices), and BoldSign (electronic signature). Each of these providers is bound by its own privacy commitments and applicable data-processing agreements.
- Legal disclosure when required by law, court order, or subpoena, subject to any objections or motions we may file to protect confidentiality.
- With your direction — for instance, if you ask us to share information with another professional you have engaged.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you reside, applicable law may give you rights regarding personal information we hold about you, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of processing.
- California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined.
- Maryland residents have rights under the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA). We do not engage in targeted advertising or sale of personal data.
- Residents of other states with comparable privacy statutes (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others) may exercise analogous rights.
To exercise any of these rights, or to ask a question about this notice, email jim@easternshoremediation.com.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information we receive from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No internet transmission is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a matter requires heightened confidentiality, contact us by telephone or another secure channel and we will arrange appropriate communications.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The Effective Date at the top of the page indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
